Most of what people want to know before they come in is pretty simple: can I watch my team, will the sound be on, and is there anything happening after the game. Here's the short version, plus the longer answers underneath.
How a Night at Southbar Actually Runs
Southbar is South Tampa's new spot for sports early, live music and DJs late. The matchups go up on massive screens with the sound on, and when the final whistle blows the bands take the stage and the DJs carry it through to 3AM. You don't have to pick one or the other — plenty of people show up for a kickoff and end up still here when the music's going.
Every fan base is welcome here. We're not a one-team bar, and nobody's going to give you a hard time for wearing the wrong colors. Owner Brad Iturriaga built the place around the idea that a good room can hold a lot of different people cheering for a lot of different things.
Watched the Bucs game here on a screen the size of a garage door, sound cranked the whole way. Stayed for the band that came on after and didn't leave until they turned the lights up. — Marcus D.
Watching Your Team on the Big Screens
The screens are the reason a lot of people find us first. Big picture, audio up, and a room full of people who care what happens. A few things worth knowing before you plan around a game:
- We carry the biggest matchups across the major sports, and we turn the sound on rather than running everything silent.
- Fans of any team are welcome — bring a group in jerseys from three different cities, nobody cares.
- If you want a specific game on, ask us ahead of time and we'll do what we can to get it up on a screen.
- Big games pull a crowd, so a bigger group is always easier if you give us a heads-up.
Bands, DJs and What Happens After the Whistle
When the games end, the stage takes over. Live bands, then DJs running the room late. It's the part of the night that makes Southbar different from a place that just clicks off the TVs and starts stacking chairs.
- Live music. Bands play the stage after the games wrap, so the room rolls straight from cheering into a set without a dead hour in between.
- DJs late. Once the band clears out, the DJs keep it going until 3AM for people who aren't ready to call it.
- Events. We host events in the space — reach out and tell us what you have in mind and we'll talk through whether it fits the room and the calendar.
Came in for a soccer match at a weird hour, stayed for a DJ set that ran way later than I planned. The staff kept up, the sound system is genuinely good, and nobody rushed us out. — Priya S.

Brought eight people for a birthday, half of them wanted the fight and half wanted to dance. Somehow both worked. The bartenders were quick even when it got packed. — Danielle R.
